Mark Sloan, the Director and Chief Curator of the Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art at the College of Charleston, explains the exhibit that's only the second to be included as a part of the Spoleto Festival: Paolo Ventura's Winter Dreams. The artist photographs elaborate miniatures of nostalgic scenes from the world of the Italian circus, and blows up the photographs, which results in an other-worldly mix of reality and imagination. The show includes photographs, watercolor sketches, and even some of the models from the miniatures themselves.
