SummerStages takes listeners on a summer road trip to some of the southeast's best classical music festivals. In the 2011 season, hear violin virtuoso Joshua Bell from Norfolk's Virginia Arts Festival, the soaring soprano of Susan Graham from Greensboro's Eastern Music Festival and Keith Lockhart conducting Mahler amid the cool summer breezes of western North Carolina's Brevard Music Center. SummerStages puts listeners in the front row - and takes them backstage - to enjoy performances and interviews with world-renowned soloists and conductors, as well as students who are just launching their professional careers.

SummerStages is hosted by broadcast veteran Mike McKay along with co-hosts Lauren Rico, Joe Brant, Rachel Stewart, and Dick Kowal. The series is a production of WDAV Classical Public Radio, one of America's leading producers of original classical-music programming and a service of Davidson College.

SummerStages is made possible by the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art and WDAV’s Listen Live Fund. Contributors include Cynthia Tyson, the Jane Cooke Brynn Music Education Fund, the Estate of Debra Buggie and the National Endowment for the Arts.
